What's on the sheet
- Header: customer or job, address, date and who surveyed.
- For each window: position and room.
- Width at the top, middle and bottom, height on the left, middle and right, and both diagonals — all in millimetres.
- What was measured: the structural opening or the outside of the old frame.
- Opening type (casement, tilt & turn, tilt, fixed, sliding, tilt & slide, door) and hinge side.
- Material, profile system, outside and inside colour, glazing, handle and Uw value.
- A grid for the sketch with mullions and transoms, marked as seen from inside or outside, and room for notes.
How to survey with it
- Measure width and height at three points. The smallest figure is usually the one that counts.
- Measure both diagonals. If they differ noticeably, the opening is out of square — put it in the notes.
- Tick what was measured: the structural opening or the outside of the old frame.
- Mark whether the sketch is drawn from inside or outside, so the hinge side is never in doubt.
